About Me

Hello, I'm Nick Roberts, and I have lived in Devon and Cornwall all my life, I grew up in the South Hams, which is the place I still call home. I love being out in nature, whether I'm walking along the South West coastal path, wandering through woodlands, growing vegetables or simply sitting and listening to the birds in my garden, I deeply value the therapeutic qualities that time outdoors can bring.

I value personal accountability, as it empowers me to take ownership of my life choices. I strive to be thoughtful, responsible, and respectful, acting kindly toward the planet, by honouring and protecting the environment and all its living beings.

My life has not always been easy and I believe my experiences have helped to strengthen my ability to understand others. My counselling approach is client-led and grounded in empathy, honesty,  non-judgment, and collaboration. My aim is to empower you to navigate life’s challenges, just as I have navigated my own. I will support you to become the person you want to be.

I believe the therapeutic relationship (the one between us) is at the heart of the counselling process. Through  building trust, openness, and vulnerability, we can work together to explore your  experiences, emotions, and behaviours in ways that create new understanding, growth, and healing.

As a qualified integrative counsellor, I draw on a variety of therapeutic theories and  approaches, shaping each session around your unique needs. I offer warmth, compassion, and genuine curiosity, creating a safe and supportive space where you can gently explore your challenges and discover what helps you to be the person you want to be.

I have more than 25 years worth of experience working in the social care sector and now work as a counsellor supporting people with a wide range of personal concerns, including:

  • Trauma
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem and loss of confidence
  • Guilt and shame
  • Fear and anger
  • Loss and grief
  • Spirituality and beliefs
  • Body image

As an  member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) I uphold their code of ethics and fully adhere to their recommendations for regular supervision.
